Thursday, February 13, Union Hall Elementary School's third, fourth, and fifth grade students participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The students were given words to spell from materials prepared by the Scripps National Spelling Bee Program. Students displayed knowledge learned throughout their school experience while competing for top honors. Megan Hall, a fourth grader, claimed first place and La’Kiya Moore, a fourth grader, was the second place winner. The following students also earned their way into the final round of the school spelling bee: Brooklyn Rigney, Javion Webb, Keith Hare, Devon Mercks, Jonah Jenkins, Mikayla Mally, David Tatum, Bryce Hammock, Paityn Williams, Marckiyah Martin, and Jena Anderson. Megan and La’Kiya will participate in the Danville Area Spelling Bee, which will be held at Averett University on Saturday, March 21, 2020.
